Halter Training

This is something that is new to me, so you will have to bear with me as I try this new area of training!

Back in April I purchased a filly as a future prospect. She of course has all of the conformation I look for in a prospect including a nice hip, sloping shoulder, pretty neck, etc. But in the spirit of adventure as I have worked with this filly since her homecoming in September, I have decided to point her at the spring shows in halter and possibly lunge line.

So far so good! She gamely accepted our handling (with time and patience, she had never been handled prior) and loves to be groomed, blanketed, and well doted on!

She does extremely well on the lungeline (walk, jog, lope, reverse) thus far.

She has grown by leaps and bounds, she was a large filly to begin with! Her blanket size (to give you an idea) is a 62" and she will not be a full year until March.

Her feed ration is 1.5 scoops of 12/8 MG Superhorse and 1/2 scoop of MG Rice Meal.

Welcome!

Welcome to my little blog about our little ranch! I hope you enjoy visiting us virtually and perhaps for training in the future!

I will mainly talk about the comings and goings, and different trials and accomplishments we experience in our everyday training!
