Rethinking this...

Foxy's New Ration:

2 scoops 12/8 Super Horse - 2oz Sho-Glo - 1/2 scoop Rice Meal

2x daily

We are looking at adding alfalfa cubes to her ration at night.

Outside horses:

1 scoop each 12/8 Super Horse

And Jazzy's foal is due this time next month so she will be moving indoors to wait for foaling! Her new ration will be:

1 scoop 12/8 Super Horse - 1/4 scoop Rice Meal - 1 oz Sho-Glo

This foal is going to be born in a stall darn it! I say that because her last foal was born under the fence and into the neighbors pasture! We ended up spending $800 at the vet b/c the mare panicked and stood up too soon. Long story short she did not pass all the after birth and retained some. Not good stuff. We almost lost her!

Wish us luck!

Foxy

Finally got the filly clipped....well....mostly! All I lack is the second pass with a finer blade, her legs, and her head! And we will be fully clipped and ready to go! She is looking really good though. Our show is March 28, so we have a little over a month to get ready! She is working good and we are increasing her ration as follows:

7am - 2 scoops 12/8 Superhorse + half scoop of rice bran
12pm - 1 scoop 12/8 Superhorse
5pm - 2 scoops 12/8 Superhorse + half scoop of rice bran

We are adding one half-meal to her feedings to build some more weight.

Her work out currently consists of:

1st day:
Roundpen
5 minutes of trotting in each direction.
2 minutes of loping in each direction.
5-10 minutes of work on stance and showmanship.

2nd day:
Lungeline
5 minutes of longwalking.
5 minutes of jogging each direction.
5 minutes of work on stance and showmanship.

We alternate day one and day two throughout the week so that she works really hard one day, and has the chance to recoup the second day.

As far as grooming goes and care, we are using the following routine:

Before work:
Curry head to tail.
Hard brush, soft brush.
Wrap legs.
Apply neck sweat.

After work:
Unwrap legs.
Rub dry. (if necessary)
Curry head to tail.
Soft brush.
Cowboy Magic on mane and tail.
Comb out mane and tail.
Condition tail and bag.
Remove neck sweat and rub dry.
Soft brush over body once more.
Spray with coat polish.
Blanket or sheets as needed.

I will post pictures as we go so you can see how she is progressing! She is looking good now, but needs to pick up a few pounds I think! Wish us luck !

Happy Trails!

Just a quickie...

Well it is amazing the difference it will make in clipping a horse if you are using the wrong blade! Well now that we have the correct blade on the shears...they cut through her coat like butter! She is going to look fantastic! Our first show is March 28th! Wish us luck!
